5 Ways to Save Time Making Worksheets
EduSheet.my
Every teacher knows that feeling — it's 10pm, you have class tomorrow, and the worksheet still isn't done. Creating meaningful learning materials takes time, and time is exactly what teachers have least of.
The good news: there's a smarter way to do it. Here are five techniques that have helped many Malaysian teachers save time without sacrificing quality.
1. Use AI to Generate the First Draft
This is the single biggest change you can make today. Instead of starting with a blank page, let AI generate the first draft — then you simply review and adjust.
EduSheet lets you type a request in plain language — for example, "Year 3 Mathematics worksheet on multiplication, 10 questions, dinosaur theme" — and within 30 seconds you have a print-ready PDF. No manual formatting, no hunting for clip art, no laying out columns.
Better still: EduSheet automatically generates an answer key alongside every worksheet. You hand out the question sheet to students and keep the answer key for marking — all in a single step.
With AI, I can prepare a themed worksheet in 5 minutes instead of 45. I use that extra time to give attention to students who need more support.
2. Reuse Formats That Have Already Worked
Don't reinvent the wheel every time. If a particular format — say "fill in the blanks, then a short answer section" — works well for your students, keep that as your personal template.
Save example questions or instructions that worked and reuse them for new topics. If a Science worksheet on animals went down well, use the same structure for plants. Your students are already familiar with the layout, so they spend less time on instructions and more time learning.
3. Batch-Create for a Week or Month at Once
Instead of making one worksheet every day, spend two hours on Sunday generating materials for a full week — or even a whole month. Batch creation is far more efficient because you're in the same creative mode throughout.
Organise by topic following your scheme of work, then generate everything in one go. Save the PDFs in folders organised by week or topic. When teaching day arrives, your materials are already ready.
4. Choose Themes That Excite Your Students
An engaging worksheet needs less classroom management time. When students enjoy the activity, they're more focused and need less intervention from you.
Try using themes that are popular with your class — space, animals, sports, or favourite characters. EduSheet offers several themes to choose from, including dinosaur, ocean, space, and nature. The right theme can transform a routine task into something students actually look forward to.
5. Share with Your Colleagues
Don't carry the burden alone. Make an arrangement with other teachers in the same subject or year group — each person prepares materials for specific topics, then shares across the team.
This way, the workload is divided while quality stays high because everyone focuses on topics they know best. You can share EduSheet PDF files directly via WhatsApp or Google Drive.
Start Saving Time Today
All five of these tips can be implemented right away, but the one with the biggest impact is the first — using AI to generate the initial content. If you haven't tried it yet, now is a great time to start.
